Former secretary and president of Liverpool Astronomical Society, Gerard Gilligan, will discuss the society's formation, members and astronomical research.

Founded in 1881, the LAS was second only to the Royal Astronomical Society, and in 1890 became the parent society to the British Astronomical Association.

For over 130 years the LAS has provided help and assistance to enthusiasts who share a common interest in the great science of astronomy.
