Volunteering at the British Science Festival
The British Science Festival takes place in a different city each year. In 2009, the Festival took place in Surrey. This year's Festival will be in Birmingham.
There are opportunities to work and volunteer at the British Science Festival as a Festival Assistant. Keep your eyes on the British Science Festival webpages from the Spring before each Festival for more information.
The Young People's team need people with experience of working with young people to help run the main event for teenagers, BAckchat, at the Festival. At BAckchat students meet top scientists from the Festival in an informal setting, find out a bit more about them and their work and discuss hot topical science issues. The team of facilitators guide the students through activities and encourage them to debate the subject of the day.
Alternatively, do you have what it takes to be a member of the Festival x-change team? The x-change is a lively round-up of the day's events at the Festival. Each weeknight a selection of speakers gather for an informal discussion about the issues of the day. The audience are encouraged to share their opinions and ask questions.
The x-change team are involved in every aspect of producing the x-change, from choosing speakers to event management on the night.
