Meet the x-change volunteers

Rachel Harris, age 22

What you are currently doing?

I’m just coming to the end of my MRes in Experimental Neuroscience at Imperial College London after a busy year researching why neurons die in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.

Why you are excited about volunteering for the x-change?

I’m looking forward to meeting as many people at the festival as possible, every day there are just so many interesting events, talks and trips on offer and I can’t wait to get as many as possible into the X-Change show, podcast and blog!

Who would be your perfect guest?

For me, all the star speakers at this year’s festival are all very inspiring, so having any of them as guests would be brilliant. In particular talking to Robert Winston who is a respected researcher, a terrific science communicator and now heavily involved in science policy, would be great.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself...

I’m addicted to all things cat, but have never owned one! I’ve even visited cat cafes in Hong Kong and Vienna!
