Meet the x-change volunteers

Jessica Wynn, age 20

What you are currently doing?

I’m just about to go into my third year studying chemistry, resources and the environment at the University of York.

Why you are excited about volunteering for the x-change?

I’m super excited about volunteering for the x-change because seeing people say “wow!” at science is literally my favourite thing. I can’t wait to be part of producing an event that will showcase how cool science is to the public and I hope we inspire people and spark interest along the way!

Who would be your perfect guest?

That’s a really hard question! I think Ben Goldacre and Dara O Briain would be amazing! They would make the ultimate pseudoscience-fighting duo! I think that it’s so important to debunk quackery, especially as homeopathy is such a hot topic in the UK at the moment. Also, I’m a big believer in the idea that comedy is actually the best way to get a point across in certain cases and so I think laughing in the face of pseudoscience would be a great way to tell people how ridiculous it all is. Having them both on the show would be informative and hilarious!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself...

According to the “weigh yourself in dinosaur” scales at the Yorkshire museum, I weigh almost as much as a Hypsilophodon!
