FAQs

Who can submit an event at the Festival?

Anyone can submit an event proposal to be considered for inclusion in the programme.

What does it cost?

For most organisations we do not charge a fee for inclusion in the programme, although in most cases you will need to cover your speakers' expenses. Business and industry will be offered slots in the programme as part of a sponsorship package.

What does the Festival offer to event organisers?

We provide a platform for organisations wanting to stage events. By organising venues, equipment, publicity, ticketing and stewards we leave you free to concentrate on the content of your event. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff will be happy to work with you to develop your events, whether it is your first time organising a science communication event, or you are a professional event company.

When is the deadline for submitting a proposal?

There two different deadlines to submit depending on what type of event you are proposing. If your event is for the city programme, the deadline is 31st October 2012. This will include family shows, informal evening events and interactive exhibitions. If your event is for the main programme, which will be based at the university and primarily features scientific talks, the deadline is March 2013. For further information, please read how to guide 1.
