Talks and debates

Featuring eminent scientists, including stars of the small screen, those at the forefront of today’s technology and scientists searching for solutions to tomorrow’s challenges.

The Award Lectures are a highlight of the programme and are awarded to rising stars of the world of science – Professor Brian Cox and Professor Richard Wiseman both gave Award Lectures at the start of their careers.

The Huxley debate features George Davey-Smith and Tim Spector going head-to-head with their views on epigenetics, an emerging scientific discipline that could revolutionise the way we think about what makes us, us. Or could it?

Faces you might recognise at the Festival include fertility expert and respected TV presenter Robert Winston, geologist and TV adventurer Iain Stewart and space scientist and top science communicator Maggie Aderin-Pocock.
