What is the x-change?

The x-change has been running since 2008 at The British Science Festival, organised by the British Science Association. For the x-change we select the best speakers from all corners of the Festival and bring them together for a fun and fast run-through of the best, funniest, most controversial and most interesting speakers from the day. Over the past few years the x-change has been to Aberdeen (2012) Bradford (2011), Birmingham (2010), Guildford (2009), Liverpool (2008) and even abroad to the Euroscience Open Forum in Barcelona in July 2008.

In 2011 we began recording the show with BBC presenter Richard Hollingham and producing live podcast, and our volunteers started blogging about the day. In 2012 we went one better and produced a video of some of our favourite demonstrations. With so many great speakers to choose from we decided to introduce the x-change x-tra and recorded an additional interview with one of our star guests Bill Bryson, author of A Short History of Nearly Everything.
