CREST Award levels
There are four levels of CREST Award; Discovery, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each Award provides an easy-to-run framework for curriculum enhancement for both student and teacher.
Most of the Awards can be completed as individual or team project (assessment is based on individual achievement). Below you can find out more about each individual CREST level including the suggested time requirement, age level and the level of investigation expected.
CREST Discovery Awards
Focus on fun, teamwork and transferable skills. They are typically completed by 11-14 year olds in 5 hours (usually in one day). Often whole year groups or classes do the awards together.

CREST Bronze Awards
Bronze Awards focus on fun, teamwork and transferable skills. They are typically completed by 11-14yr olds; around 10 hours of project work is expected. Students experience the project process; improving their enquiry, problem solving and communication skills. CREST Bronze is also Validated as 10hrs towards the Children's University Passport to Learning

CREST Silver Awards
Silver Awards stretch students and enrich their studies. They are typically completed by 14-16yr olds; around 30 hours of project work is expected. Suitable coursework (e.g. GCSE Design and Technology), project work for work related learning, and the new Diplomas could be used to achieve CREST Silver Awards. CREST Silver is also Validated as 20hrs towards the Children's University Passport to Learning

CREST Gold Awards
Gold Awards allow the most able students to conduct some real research. They are typically completed by 16-19yr olds; these longer-term projects require around 70 hours work. Suitable coursework or project work for the new Diplomas and the EPQ can achieve CREST Gold Awards.
