Schools and colleges can apply for a grant of up to £250 to support CREST. All schools and colleges in Wales are eligible to apply. The application form captures information regarding the type of school, but applications will be assessed only on how the money is proposed to be used.

The CREST Award programme is run by the British Science Association, which is being funded by the Welsh Government – through the National Science Academy – to coordinate and increase activities in Welsh schools.

  • The funding must enable young people to achieve a CREST Award or to take part in CREST Star Investigators
  • The project work must be science, engineering, maths or technology related
  • If you received a CREST grant in 2011 you can re-apply but you will need to demonstrate how you are building on your CREST work, reaching new groups or students or embedding CREST for the future
  • Feedback and a short evaluation report form MUST be completed by 10th June (recognising that in some cases the project will be on-going)

Deadlines and payments

  • The 1st round deadline will be 21st January
  • Successful applicants accepted will be informed before 31st January
  • The 2nd round deadline will be Monday 18th March
