Funding for CREST in Wales

We are pleased to announce that the Welsh Government through their National Science Academy has recently accepted a project proposal to support the CREST Awards (at secondary) in Wales. Running from April 2014 through to March 2015 this support will greatly enhance the scheme’s presence in Wales, building on recent successes, whilst providing further STEM related opportunities for young people.

This funding confirmation complements the on-going CREST Star (primary) project in Wales, where accessibility to the scheme is being increased through a project that includes translating the back-catalogue of activities and resources.

Here we have highlighted just some of the elements which will be implemented as part of this secondary funded project.

Subsidised registration costs

As part of the proposal, a subsidised model will be reinstated for all registrations in Wales, meaning the prices for the remainder of the academic year (up until August 2014) will be:

Schools in the rest of the UK (per pupil)

Schools in Wales (per pupil)

Further resources and materials translated in Welsh

The new versions of the CREST profile forms will be translated into Welsh and a new bilingual certificate will be re-instated. Other relevant materials will also be translated.

Pilot CREST Discovery Award days to take place

To promote the new CREST Discovery Award, subsidised activity days will take place in a number of target schools. If you or your school is interested in taking part then please contact See Science.
