Encouraging independent learning

Children are encouraged to work independently of adults and come up with their own investigations

Exciting partnerships

You can work towards your your CREST Star awards with activities and workshops at some of the UK's most exciting science learning centres

More than just science...

CREST Star activties include investigations into other STEM subjects such as Design & Technology, and cross curricular links to Maths and English

New yoghurt-making CREST Star investigation

Yoghurt making is the theme of the latest CREST Star investigation available to download now.  The aptly titled ‘Yummy yoghurt’ is produced with the support of Practical Action as a CREST SuperStar activity for primary-aged children. The free CREST Star resources can be found here.

In this fun new activity, pupils find out how farmers in Bangladesh can earn money for their family by turning milk into yoghurt. They then go on to the practical element, making a range of different flavoured yoghurts using a variety of different types of milk and fruit.  Students also get the opportunity to find out more about schools in Bangladesh and the types of food that families eat there. As with all our resources, this investigation comes with an Activity card and an Organiser’s card, which will provide teachers, parents and home educators with all the information they need to run the activity.  There is also plenty of scope to be ‘berry’ creative, so don’t forget to put this CREST Star activity in your dairy. Oops! We mean diary!

To find out more about the CREST Star scheme and become a member to access the rest of our 60+ activities, You can visit the CREST Star homepage.

Practical Action, who are very active in offering development solutions in over 40 countries across the Globe, also offer other CREST-accredited activities including at CREST Discovery, Bronze and Silver Award levels. Find out more about Practical Action activities here.
