The walk will examine the geology and landscape of Penistone Hill [as described in the WYGT "Rocks and Landscapes of Penistone Hill" booklet.]  The summit of Penistone Hill is 1030 feet so please wear appropriate outdoor clothes and footwear. The walk will take about 2.5 hours and is on  generally well-made paths. [Packed lunches can then be eaten in cars.] After lunch there is the option for a short drive and a walk to Ponden Clough [a couple of miles round trip] to see a sequence of Kinderscoutian and Marsdenian sandstones and mudstones and the Keighley Bluestone. Small charge for non-members to cover insurance and overheads. Bring refreshments if needed, also packed lunch if joining afternoon walk.
