Blaydon West Change Champions
Monday, 18 March, 2013 - 09:00 to Friday, 22 March, 2013 - 15:00
Activities will be based on the theme of change. The week will be launched with a whole school interactive assembly. This will ensure that pupils are enthused and ready to learn, having participated in a range of exciting scientific changes. The children will then work towards change champions status by taking part in a carousel of activities. Governors and parents will be invited in to help with these activities. Science teachers from our secondary feeder school will also be invited to come along and teach to our year 6 pupils to help with transition (and hopefully do some really whizzy grown up science). Quizzes will be on offer to find the 'Science Boffins' of Blaydon West. Any parents, governors, memeners of the local community who have science/ engineering based occupations will also be invited in to talk to the children about their roles, providing excellent speaking and listening opportunities for our children and a great insight into the exciting world of work. Before children can be given their 'Change Champions' status, they will be required to present and demonstrate what change processes they have found out about, to other children and staff within their key stages, during key stage change Champion assemblies. The aim of the event is to have fun with investigations! Raise the profile of science within the school and aim for excellence within the science curriculum and forge links with our secondary feeder school.
