The incredible institute of inventors
During National Science & Engineering Week this year, GSAL Junior School is metamorphosing into The Incredible Institute of Inventors. Throughout the week, pupils at The Incredible Institute of Inventors will take part in hands on science activities to learn about the science behind a wide variety of inventions and gadgets.
Each ‘Working Party’ within the Institute will look at a different part of our everyday lives and investigate how different discoveries and inventions have helped us. They will be researching and investigating entertainment, travel, time and communication. The young inventors will develop their scientific skills by designing and carrying out investigations to test different materials and scientific principles. For example, one working party will investigate giant catapults and see how far they can fling water balloons and custard pies!
The young inventors will invite their grandparents into the Institute for a morning and they will work together to design and invent gadgets that help solve problems in our everyday lives. The grandparents will be able to explain to the young inventors how technology has changed during their lifetime and the impact that this has had. In return, the young inventors will take their grandparents into the ICT rooms and teach them about the technologies that they use in school.
