Saint Ninians science roadshow
Using the theme of Discovery and Invention, we intend holding a science workshop which will involve pupils at every stage from Primary 1 to Primary 7 in showcasing some of their science work from the past year. We are particularly keen to share our experiences with others and hope to invite the nursery children who have registered for Primary 1 next year to come along and see what is in store for them in Primary school. The present Primary 1 pupils will get the opportunity to show off their knowledge and newly found skills to this young audience and their parents. Our aim is to provide displays and practical activities at every stage, led by the pupils themselves. These will be related to the cross curricular topics that are being covered and will show how Curriculum for Excellence gives the pupils a relevant , meaningful way of learning and discovering new facts about the world in which they live. At the other end of the school we intend showing the Primary 7 parents how their children will continue their science studies in secondary school by including a transition activity on the subject of genes and hereditary characteristics. The pupils will demonstrate their knowledge of this subject and our secondary science co-ordinator will provide a taste of the development of their work in First Year. All the other primary stages will also get the opportunity to share their experiences of science at their level in fun, hands on way.
