Science fair launch
Science Fair is an annual competition that is held in our school where students in Key Stage Three; years seven to nine, work in groups within their science class to investigate a scientific question or hypothesis of their choice and present their findings. The overarching aim of this initiative is to raise the profile of Science learning amongst our students. We believe that the Science Fair provides opportunities for our students to develop essential skills namely research, independent enquiry, scientific enquiry and thinking skills with the vital elements of fun and healthy competition. Launched during National Science and Engineering Week every year, students create their competition bids. This consists of an investigation plan and background research of their chosen topic. Students and teachers then collectively vote for the most interesting project, which would go through to the Science Fair finals; a public celebratory event held in the Summer term where guest judges from the community of local scientists e.g. GlaxoSmithKline announce the winners and award prizes.
