Visit to Loughs Agency
Pupils from Craigbrack Primary School, Eglinton, Derry, will visit the Riverwatch Aquarium at Loughs Agency. During their visit, the children will be able to view the many freshwater and marine tanks, watch the fish being fed, get a chance to handle some marine species, and have a go at some fishing in the new taster pond. The event follows on from the Trout in the Classroom initiative that the school has been involved in (through Loughs Agency's outreach programme, and the Adopt a Stream event, where the school children adopted a local stream by undertaking a clean-up programme, looking at the invertebrates and biology of the stream, and releasing their young trout into the stream. It comes together to allow the children to consider the life-cycle of fish species and to consider the protection of their aquatic habitats.
