News from the Big Bang machine

I'll describe the evidence for dark matter and dark energy, highlighting the precision with which we *do not* know what our Universe is composed of. I'll then describe the consequences of the dark components, theoretical ideas for what they might be, and the experimental effort to resolve the present crisis in our understanding.

Nuclear Physics is the older sibling of particle physics, concerning itself with the properties of nuclei rather than the subnuclear particles from which they are made. Recent results from nuclear physics include the discovery of new elements, precision tests of the standard model, and better understanding of the nuclear processes in stars.
