Event Summary:
A demonstration lecture aimed at 10-14 year olds. The audience are posed a series of amusing questions about lifestyle and the role of chemists revealed through the display of real items from a series of hidden bags. Audience members participate by doing 'experiments' ranging from guess the temperature, extinguishing an ether fire, bubble shapes, to dancing raisins and nylon synthesis.

Interactive lecture aimed at a younger audience and divided into sections. The question ‘Do we really need chemists?’ will be answered in a fun and dynamic way using strong visual input. Selected members of the audience may be selected to participate. Students will see a variety of experiments from guess the temperature, extinguishing an ether fire, bubble shapes and nylon synthesis.
