What is a Branch?
Branches engage and inspire members of the public through a diverse range of different science, technology, engineering and maths events.
Branches aim to enable participation in open and informed discussions on science, engineering and technology and their implications. Branch events cover a wide variety of topics in a rich variety of formats, from traditional talks to drama productions, SciBars and film screenings.
Branches from Plymouth to Caithness help the British Science Association achieve its aims of advancing the public's understanding, accessibility and accountability of the sciences and engineering. Branches are run by passionate volunteers from a range of backgrounds. Some volunteers are professional scientists; others bring enthusiasm for non-science competencies such as events management or marketing. Each branch operates in their own way, organising events that tie into local interests and operating in a way that suits branch members’ own particular expertise.
