Wales and Northern Ireland

The British Science Association branches run events in Cardiff, Swansea, Pembrokeshire, Wrexham and Belfast. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to plan and run a wide range of events from cafe discussions, film events, lectures, family hands-on activities and more.

Science Alliance Cymru

The Science Alliance Cymru (SAC) aims to offer a focus for all those interested in or working in engagement with science, technology, engineering and maths in Wales to discuss issues of relevance.

Quarterly meetings are held at a different locations across Wales.

The main objectives of the SAC are to:

  • allow members to meet others involved in public engagement activities and share good practise;
  • offer support to others in the field;
  • collaborate with others to add value to existing activities and to develop new initiatives;
  • raise awareness of activities in the region.

Membership of the SAC is free and in its two years, nearly 150 people have joined. Members represent many different organisations including universities, museums, science centres, educational charities, the media, private industry, public bodies and many more.

The SAC is a joint initiative between: British Science Association, Techniquest, University of Glamorgan, Cardiff University, National Museum Wales, BBC Wales.
