About Us

National Science & Engineering Week (NSEW) is a ten-day national programme of science, engineering and technology events and activities across the UK aimed at people of all ages.

Anyone can organise an event or activity and the British Science Association helps organisers plan by providing free activity and support resources. We welcome and support any type of organiser, from schools to community groups and from parents to large organisations.  The resulting programme of over 4000 events and activities, is a hugely varied and eclectic mix.

NSEW 2014 took place on 14 - 23 March. 2015 dates are 13 - 22 March.

What can you do to get involved?

  • Go to an event near you. Thousands take place across the UK. Find one to go along to with friends and family by checking out our events programme (will open in September for NSEW 2015)
  • Run an event or activity in March. Check out all the free support resources we offer organisers in our events area
  • If you don't fancy going out, we have downloadable hands-on activities, competitions, quizzes and online experiments. Just explore the links in our menu for more information.

“Science and engineering are vital for economic growth, and we need to do everything we can to inspire the next generation and show them the vast range of careers available to them. "
Science Minister David Willetts.

NSEW is funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

One of the key events during the Week, The Big Bang Fair is the UK’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people.

The Big Bang Fair 2015 will take place 11-14 March at The NEC, Birmingham. It will be bursting with theatre shows, hands-on activities and the chance to talk to some of the UK’s leading companies.
