Champions Network

We are looking for volunteers to become National Science & Engineering Week Champions!

National Science & Engineering Week is all about providing a platform for fun and participative events that can be enjoyed by a diverse audience. We coordinate the Week in partnership with a passionate community of event and activity organisers. The Week would not be the national success it is without the amazing teachers, museum staff, librarians, academics, outreach officers, community leaders, enthusiasts and diverse other organisations, who run the events in schools, leisure sites, universities, community centres and more. We've set up the Champions Network to spread the word about the benefits of taking part in National Science & Engineering Week.

What is the NSEW Champions Network?

The NSEW Champions Network aims to spread the message about NSEW through both online and face-to-face networking between existing and potential event organisers. If you have experience in running events or activities for NSEW or any other related initiative, please consider signing up as a volunteer champion and help us build on the success of the Week by sharing good practice, useful resources and ideas and by encouraging new organisations to take part.

If I become a Champion what would I have to do?

We are asking champions to give about one hour a week of their time to advocate NSEW in their local area and online.

This may include:
Encouraging organisations you know of to run an event for NSEW and to register.
Blogging about resources (your own or our activity packs!) and event-formats you find useful and/or successful
Signposting online audiences to the NSEW website, competitions and resources.

We would ask champions to commit to a year in the first instance with the view of this being an on-going and ever-developing role.

What’s in it for me?

Benefits would include raising the profile of your school or organisation in your area, developing new skills and the exclusive use of our NSEW Champions Network logo on your organisation’s website and marketing materials. You would also have the chance to give a talk at one of our information sessions and to attend one of the British Science Association’s annual events, providing further opportunities for skill development and networking.

How do I apply?

If you have organised NSEW events or activities at any time over the past few years and would like to share your experiences with others and to learn more about the NSEW community, we would love you to sign up. Read the NSEW champion volunteer role description

If you think this role is for you then sign up on our quick and easy online form.

Please note sign-up of champions is currently on-going so there is no closing date.
