We have designed a fantastic scheme especially for National Science & Engineering Week called "Toes For Turf". The science behind fingerprints is well known. What is not so well known is the science behind footprints or "feet prints". This activity enables students to take, classify and "lift" both fingerprints and foot prints. As the research on footprints is meagre, this scheme will allow students to make some discoveries about the correlation or otherwise between fingerprints and feet prints.
Breakdown of the science timetable, pupils are working on a crime scene and the Sscience involved with solving a murder in year 9. Year 7 pupils are finding out about the Science in the home, using everyday items to complete some scientific experiments. There is also a trip to the Manchester Science and Industry museum for member of the STEM club. There are special assemblies with science demonstrations for year 7, 8 and 9. Talks are also being held for seperate scientists to discuss careers in both Science and engineering.
