Science week
An exciting week with numerous cross curricular learning with science at the heart. Our focus will be on investigative skills and encouraging children to ask questions and strive to seek the answers, taking inspiration to explore their own innovative ideas. We will have visiting workshops for all classes from reception to year 4. Workshops range from solar energy, science through stories and forces in the circus!. We will be holding a "fascinating facts" prize draw with exciting science gifts for the lucky winners. As an example, Year 3 will be focussing on the pioneering science behind the invention of the washing machine and washing detergents. There will be some bubbly investigations, research into the development of these products and children will also each experience directly what it is like to be inside a giant bubble! They are going to invent and make their own idea for an amzing washing machine of the future! The school will hold a science exhibition to display all the antics of science week, inviting parents and governors who will be suitably impressed by the range and standard of our learning. Also attending our exhibition will be some local businesses for whom science is an underlying feature of their business and a neighbouring middle school. We want children to experience science as a subject in which they can engage in and have an impact upon- now and in the future. Tomorrow's scientists, inventors and engineers are in school today!
