Inventions to change our world
Children in KS1 will be planning and inventing a holiday trip to the moon. Pupils will learn about the moon and ways of getting there! They will then design and make their own rockets, space suits and transport on the moon. Lower KS2 will be making inventions linked to their topic, Mighty Mountains. The children will learn what is needed to climb and survive up a mountain, and design and make an invention to assist climbers. They will produce a speech and sales pitch for the end of the day to try and sell their products! Upper KS2 will be making inventins linked to their topic, Keen to be Green. The children will use recycable materials to create an invention that will help the world for the better. They will look at ideas relating to carbon footprint, global warming, biomass, sustainable materials, recycling and so forth, and design and make an invention. The children will also be creating a presentation of their work, and write a persuasive speech to try and sell their product. The children will also work to a budget and look at projected profits/losses to link with maths.
