Submit an application to provide activity for the Young People's Programme at the British Science Festival 2014

The Young People's Programme 2014 will take place from 8 - 11 September at the University of Birmingham.

We are looking for submissions from a variety of organisations who wish to provide content for young people. The main focus of the Young People's Programme in 2014 is young people aged 14 - 19, including those studying at KS 4 and 5, but also young people on vocational courses and apprenticeships.

We will have a focus on careers pathways,highlighting the broad range of careers in science, engineering and technology - the strapline is Where can science take you?

We are looking for:

  • Practical activities that will give young people an experience they could not have in the classroom
  • Innovative events that will demonstrate pathways through science careers
  • Events including positive role models from a variety of backgrounds
  • High profile speakers from the world of science, engineering and technology
  • Activities that will provide teachers wth resources to use to follow up with students
  • Drop-in, interactive activities suitable for students aged 14+

We will be hosting some activity for primary schools and KS 3, although there will be a limited number of workshops available. For this age group we are looking for:

  • Practical activities that will give young people an experience they could not have in the classroom
  • Activities that will allow teachers to follow up in the classroom   
  • Innovative shows that enrich and enhance the curriculum
