3-Minute Science: The 2013 Manchester Schools' Science Documentary Competition - Winner announced!

Congratulations to Manchester Creative and Media Academy, winners of the 2013 3-Minute Science Competition!  The school submitted a creative and humourous video exploring the role of Jodrell Bank and the science that is done there.  See the video here

The Manchester Branch has a firm relationship with the Manchester Museum supporting the monthly Big Saturdays with a science stand to match the theme. Branch volunteers have delivered hands on activities at a number of festivals and celebrations including the Kendal Calling Festival and Live From Jodrell where they delighted the audience with their home-made guitars and carrot kazoos. For Manchester Science Festival 2012 the Branch held 'Sensored Science', an adult event with comedy, live band, pub quiz and maggot experiments!

The Manchester Branch are currently looking for enthusiastic, dedicated volunteers to join their committee!

This is a perfect opportunity to get involved in organising innovative and exciting events which engage the public with science. You needn’t be a scientific expert - non-scientists with an interest in marketing, events management, secretarial work and finance may also find valuable volunteering opportunities with a branch.

Interested? Email Sabah Adams, Engagement Officer (Regional), for more information about volunteering with the Manchester Branch.

Please Note: Our regional Branches are run by volunteers over 18 years of age. If your enquiry is about volunteer opportunities for under 18s, please contact crest@britishscienceassociation.org
