Newcastle Skeptics in the Pub want to promote critical thinking; to encourage people to question things and ask for evidence – that is our core message.
We invite people to gather in the relaxed environment of a pub to hear from an invited speaker. We then open the floor for a Q&A and give people a chance to reflect on what has been presented.
We aim to cover a range of topics, which are linked by the theme of the festival: Making Waves. So far we have approached Sophie Scott to speak about the neuroscience of laughter, Ben Goldacre to speak about his new book "Bad Pharma", Simon Singh to speak about libel laws, and Petra Boynton to speak about her engagement work "Sense about Sex".
