This lecture may include demonstrations. A lecture theatre in the chemistry building would make logistics easier. The local organisers would like to attract local teachers to the event so would prefer it to be scheduled as a twilight session which

Chemistry outreach and education from a local perspective.

The outreach will be concentrating on the local area.
16. How does your event relate to this year's theme of 'Making waves'?: 
In this sense we are making waves in terms of youngsters and inspiring them with science in general and chemistry in particular.

This is an ideal opportunity to advertise the outreach that goes on in chemistry in general using the local department as an example.
25. Do you have any other comments you would like to make or information you would like to include?: 
Martyn Poliakoff (Nottingham) has been approached to take part in this session. The audience level may be everyone, and I hope that it will be. There will be a particular focus on teachers, however.
