Langage technology challenge 2013

We are a new gas turbine power station on the outskirts of Plymouth. We successfully ran a Langage Technology Challenge last year. We invite 7-8 local primary schools to send a team of 4 to take part in the challenge of designing, building and testing a specific ‘energy related’, fully working model based around a chosen theme. Last year it was wind energy (see uploaded photo of the winners), this year in will be Hydro. We supply each team with some basic bits of kit to ensure that they can complete the task (but only to a minimum standard) and also supply them with ‘Langage’ money that allows them to purchase other materials from our Challenge Shop. Judging criteria are General Team Working skills, how close the finished model resembles the design stage drawings, how much energy is produced and how much money was spent. Last year’s event was a roaring success with everyone involved thoroughly enjoying the day and was reported in the local press (Plymouth Evening Herald).
