STEM at work

Tuesday, 19 March, 2013 - 10:00 to Wednesday, 20 March, 2013 - 15:00

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is set to be the fastest growing sector with the highest paid careers by 2015 and is highlighted as ‘’critical’ by all political parties in relation to future economic growth and success. It is vital that we have young people with the skills and ambitions to fill these jobs and drive our country forward. So we’ve created STEM at Work 2013 – a series of events for young people aged between 6 and 16, who want to find out why STEM is so important and discover where it can take them in their career. WHO IS RUNNING STEM AT WORK AND WHY? STEM at Work is run by NYBEP – a leading provider of employability, work experience and careers programmes for schools and colleges ( We’ve teamed up with three STEM giants – Saint Gobain Glass, Doosan Power Systems and Drax Power – to encourage more young people to consider the value and application of STEM, whatever career pathway they might choose. WHO IS IT FOR? Young people who are innovative thinkers, problem solvers and who are interested in STEM based futures. It will be particularly useful for students who are able in science, technology, engineering and maths. The event will showcase many career opportunities and demonstrate that STEM futures are exciting, varied and feature across a wide range of industries.
