North East England Branch

Connect:

The Branch aims “to promote the better understanding and appreciation of science, engineering and technology among as wide a variety of people as possible.” There is no specific venue for activities but the Branch is strongly supported by the University of Newcastle where the Committee usually meets. We are now aiming to host branch meetings in other towns across the North East, so watch this space for more information! The Branch also holds events throughout the year in a variety of formats and topics, and is particularly is particularly active during National Science and Engineering Week. These events also contribute to Newcastle ScienceFest. Recently we have also become involved in organising Newcastle’s Cafe Scientifique programme.

The Branch has a jam-packed programme for 2013, including a wide variety of NSEW activities. Full details can be found in the programme, which can be found here!
For more information and updates, please feel free to check out the North East England branch's facebook page!

The NE Branch is also connected with the NE Science Alliance - a network of people who communicate science to the public.  Find out more.

Chairperson: Colin Wilkinson
Treasurer: Sara Marsham

If you would like to support the branch and help raise some vital funds at no extra cost for you when shopping online, please visit their easyfundraising page. It’s easy, it’s free, and you will even receive vouchers and special offers!  You could also support your branch by joining one of Discover Adventure's sport fundraising challenges and/or our new recycling scheme privded by Recycling Appeal.

Get down and dirty and explore the ground beneath your feet. Find out what makes a good soil and why healthy soils are important for feeding the world and even tackling climate change. Then have a go at assessing soil quality and choosing the best, or most talented, soil.
