During British Science Week 2016 the British Science Association worked in partnership with L’Oréal to organise a Behind the Scenes of British Science event in their Head Office in London.

Science is often found in the most unexpected places. At L’Oréal science is their past, present and future. Their business has always been grounded in innovation, and invention.

L’Oréal offered students the chance to visit their UK and Ireland Head Office and learn about the science behind the beauty products we all use every day.

The young people had a fantastic day where they heard from one of L’Oréal’s scientists, had a tour around the building from L’Oréal’s graduate interns, ending the day designing their own advert which they presented back to a panel from L’Oréal and a special guest from the Lyric Hammersmith.

The BSA is also worked with L’Oréal to find a behind the scenes reporter for the L’Oréal-UNESCO Fellowships for Women in Science UK and Ireland 2016 event at the Royal Society on the 22 June.

We ran a competition where young people, aged 16-19, were asked to submit a report entered in any format to win the chance to interview nominees and report live from the event using social media channels.
