6. Event/activity description (max 300 words):
Saturday opening for the 'Imagining Science' exhibition will focus on family-friendly artwork and activities. Science is the systematic study of the world around us, and art is the expression of creativity. Imagination is what links the two. "Imagining Science: Scientific investigation and the art of imagination" is a science-themed art exhibition of the artwork of three scientist-artists, Sally Hunter (Cambridge), Immy Smith (Reading) and Michelle Anderst (Seattle). The exhibition looks at the way science and art investigate the world around us, and how imaginative thinking contributes to each in different ways, with a focus on collaboration. In addition to artworks, the exhibition includes electron microscope images of everyday objects, fluorescent images of cells, and opportunities to take part in games and drawing activities. Immy Smith and Sally Hunter will be available to chat on the family day (Saturday 16th March), and an exhibition catalogue featuring high quality printing of artworks from the exhibition is being sold in aid of Brain Tumour research and Alzheimer's disease research. Parking available. Cover Image: 'Strata' by Immy Smith
