6. Event/activity description (max 300 words):
Celebrate National Science & Engineering week 2013 with a visit to our brand new sustainable Energy Technologies Building which aims to be one of the lowest-carbon buildings in the country. This event is aimed at A-level students studying chemistry, maths or physics. Join us for a tour of our new building and an introduction to the sustainable technologies of the future hosted by our research students. The event will also include a presentation on the different Engineering courses we offer with admissions requirements, as well as a chance to speak in small groups with our researchers about their experiences and paths into higher education. Workshop activities will be fun and varied and include carbon capture demonstrations, hydrogen production and discussion about fuels of the future, the opportunity to build a combustion engine, energy comparison investigations and an interactive game to involve the students in strategic decision making on the location of fossil fuel power stations. Places are free but limited and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
