Dr James McLaughlin’s lecture will be exploring the intriguing nature of the Sun’s outer atmosphere (corona) and the effects the Sun has on the Earth and space travel.
He is a senior lecturer in mathematics and physics at Northumbria University. He has a wealth of experience as a research scientist for NASA and has produced 18 publications on astronomy and astrophysics.
Musician and Amateur astronomer David Hughes takes the audience on an exploration of the sounds of the cosmos, from Jovian Whistlers to Stellar Earthquakes, using sounds from space to generate unique and powerful 'space music'.
