Welcome to the British Science Association volunteering portal, your one-stop shop for all things related to volunteering with the Association.
Find out more about our volunteer roles.
We involve thousands of volunteers who reach out across the UK, connecting with people in their local communities, be it through Branch event programmes or the Festival, spreading the NSEW word, supporting young people to get creative with science investigation, or supporting governance of the Association. All of these tasks are reserved for our volunteers because we believe they are the best people to connect locally and wish to give them the opportunity to share their enthusiasm for science, engineering, technology, and maths, topics we know inspire passion in many people.
By exploring this portal you can find out more about the different ways to volunteer with us and support the Association in achieving its aims of advancing the public understanding, accessibility and accountability of the sciences and engineering in the UK. Each section explains how to get in touch (and in some cases when) and express your interest in volunteering. Your query will be passed to the relevant staff member who will respond as soon as they can. However if you have any general queries about volunteering please contact the Volunteering Development Officer .
As well as information about programmes involving volunteers and the wide variety of roles we offer, there is also general information about our volunteering practices. We’re working hard to support our volunteers with the best practice in volunteer management.
If you are not sure what sort of role would suit you but wish to get involved, please complete the expression of interest form .
