CREST Award prizes

We are really proud of everything students achieve through the CREST Awards and we believe that presenting your project in competitions such as the National Science + Engineering Competition [1] is a great way to build presentation skills as well as confidence as you celebrate your personal achievement and take you project to the next level.

To recognise this we offer prizes at some regional fairs as well as sponsoring two prizes in the National Science + Engineering Competition finals at The Big Bang Fair each March.

For all CREST prizes on offer (nationally and regionally) you must have received your CREST Award before you attend the event, so we know what level to judge you at.

CREST Sponsored prizes in the National Science + Engineering Competition

The prizes we offer through CREST aim to highlight skills or attribute that are essential to fulfilling a CREST Award. They are judged by our most experienced CREST Local Coordinators

CREST Prize for Creativity - This prize is offered to a team or individual project at either Gold, Silver or Bronze level who has impressed the judges most by showing their great creativity in project process, presentation or outcome or a combination of these. The winning project will receive £500, a certificate and a trophy. There is also a bursary that can be awarded to a school or college linked with the project to help support the continuation of CREST project work.

CREST Prize for Real World Context - This prize is offered to a team or individual project at either Gold, Silver or Bronze level who has impressed the judges most by showing clear passion and enthusiasm for STEM enquiry, pursuing it at a higher level and can clearly demonstrate how their project fits into the wider research or real world context. The winning project will receive £500, a certificate and a trophy.  There is also a bursary that can be awarded to a school or college linked with the project to help support the continuation of CREST project work

Each student from the winning project will also receive a personalised certificate and a limited edition CREST Medal

Regional Prizes

We offer a range of CREST prizes at the Big Bang Near Me [2]fairs that also host the regional heats for the National Science + Engineering Competition.

These prizes are delivered by the fair organisers and are tailored for each region so prizes may vary from region to region*.

The aim however is the same, to celebrate the achievements of students that have undertaken CREST Awards in the local area, and highlight the skills they have achieved through their project work. The judging is a fantastic way of meeting local scientists and engineering in the region who are delighted to see your project and give you ideas of where to go next with your work.

*Please note, CREST Award winners at regional level no longer have a direct nomination to the finals in March the following year, the nominations are given out by the National Science & Engineering Competition only. All CREST projects will be judged for the Competition at regional level so will have a chance to go through with others. Over 70% of those at 2012's national final had a CREST Award - showing that the CREST method is well respected by the judges.
