CREST Bronze
Work out the best angle for a skateboard ramp
Lots of skateboarders use ramps to do tricks. Different ramps are used for different tricks. Sometimes you just want to stay in the air for as long as possible. In this project you‟ll carry out some tests to try to work out what angled ramp is needed so a skateboarder stays in the air for the longest time.

CREST Silver
Investigate the rapids used in white water rafting
Rapids look chaotic, but they are predictable. The volume of water, the steepness (or gradient) of the river, the width of the channel, and the obstacles in the water all have understandable effects on the rapids. Experts can read a stretch of rapids, spotting the hazards and seeing the safest way through. What are factors that affect rapids in rivers used for white water rafting? Put your skills to the test by predicting the best routes down real rivers. Try making a scale model of a river to demonstrate the way the water flows.

CREST Gold
Design and make your own skateboard
For this project you‟ll need to find out about skateboards and how they‟re made, then design and make your own deck. You can complete the skateboard by buying the other components and fixing them to your board.
