Placement: five to six weeks working with Investigations Producer Matthew Gull and his team, working in broadcast TV and interviewing.
Suits: someone with an environmental background, a team player with a clear idea of what s/he wanted to achieve, adaptable to the different ways of treating information and research.
Placement: six week placement split working with Science Radio Editor Deborah Cohen and with Science Editor Paul Rincon and their teams.
Suits: someone with a particular interest in learning about radio, the format of news stories and writing about a range of science and environment stories.

Placement: three to four weeks with Assistant News Editor James Randerson (who has special responsibility for science and environment news) and Science Correspondents Ian Sample and Alok Jha, working in print and online news.
Suits: someone who is particularly interested in online news and in social media including blogs, podcasts and Twitter. It would also suit someone interested in comment as well as news.

Suits: someone who is interested in business and politics as well as science.

Placement: four to five weeks with Chief News Editor David Reay and Online News Editor Davide Castelvecchi, working in online news.
Suits: someone who is particularly interested in writing to an audience of scientists in an accessible, rather than specialised, language.
New Scientist , London
Placement: four weeks with News Editor Rowan Hooper, working on online and print news.
Suits: someone keen to write about new ideas, big discoveries, fascinating implications and social consequences of science.
Placement: three weeks with Science Editor Dick Ahlstrom, working in print and online media, including Twitter.
Suits: someone who is interested in print media.
Scotsman , Edinburgh
Placement: three weeks with Deputy News Editor Gillian Harris, working in print and online media.
Suits: someone based in Scotland or with particular links to Scotland with an environmental background.
The Times , Tower Hill, London.
Placement: three to five weeks with Feature Writer Tom Whipple, working in print and online media.
Suits: someone with some previous writing experience and is able to get all relevant information in a 600 word news story.
The Conversation , London
Placement: four weeks, between mid-July and September. Host will be Akshat Rathi, science editor. Work will involve online news writing and editing. This media outlet focuses on using academic expertise to shape public debate.
