The West Midlands Branch is based in Birmingham and organises an annual programme of lectures, visits and other events. The branch has formed a strong collaboration with "Thinktank", the Birmingham Science Museum and a partnership with local University of the Third Age groups, annually arranging at least one of its meetings as a collaborative event at their regular venue.
The Annual Prestige Lecture is the highlight of the programme; the 2011 lecture was given by Professor Peter Atkins and speakers over recent years have included Frances Cairncross, Susan Greenfield and Professor Steve Jones.
