Engineering week will focus on: Industry Visits and tours Dragons Den – Concept Car with students pitching for best presentation; Engineering Outreach - day event at University for year 8 pupils. Includes talks, Immersive Technology experience, interactive workshops, networking with engineering professionals. Engineering Symposium – Theme “Sustainability of the Engineering Supply Chain” funded by Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership and will be attended by 120 representatives from industry, community, motorsport, students, ex-students, teachers and careers officers. Six main speakers and awards presented for various activities during the week. Employability within engineering sectors – aimed at current engineering students focussed on employability eg CV, presentation & interview skills, social media and its importance; talks, workshops, a market place, industrial contacts and ex students speaking about starting their careers.
AT THE SAME TIME - Engineering Extravaganza: I will lead a team of STEM Staff from our school to visit 5 different primary schools for a day each to do STEM related workshops and talks. The schools are in Wellingborough, Corby, Northampton and Kettering. Subjects covered include wind power, rocks and minerals, Lego robots, thermal imaging camera, junk bots, materials science, microbes and bugs, investigating germs and where they hide, and bucket science.
