National Science and Engineering Week Special Promotion

The Education team at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens are inviting all primary school classes from reception up to and including year 6 to join us at the gardens for a day in the week of 11th - 15th March 2013. Pupils will be charged at half the normal rate (normal rate is £4.25 per pupil) and any accompanying adults are free. There is also a booking fee of £20 per school. This year’s National theme is “Invention and Discovery" and we have devised an exciting programme of activities for a day visit: • Dramatised Presentation – step back in time for a hands on experience and meet “Mary Anning” - one of the early fossil hunters. • Plant Hunters Trail – find out about some of the adventures that the plant hunters had in bringing back to Great Britain a whole host of new plants in this fun and informative trail. • Vegetable Discovery Game – an interactive game to discover some interesting facts about our everyday vegetables, where they came from and when they were first used in cooking. • Invention Timeline Maze – follow the fun maze and discover the chronological order of important inventions. • Seed Bank Game –Paired blindfolded interactive game involving trust and co-operation whilst collecting seeds for the “National Seed Bank” to help the conservation and biodiversity of plants for the future.
