About the British Science Festival

The British Science Festival is one of Europe's largest celebrations of science, engineering and technology, with over 250 events, activities, exhibitions and trips taking place over a week in September. The British Science Festival is unique among science festivals in the UK as it moves around the country and in the last few years has taken place in York, Liverpool and Guildford.

The programme of events offers something for everyone with activity for families and schools groups, adults looking for entertainment and stimulating debate or professionals interested in the latest research.

Organise an event

There are many opportunities to get involved with the Festival. We give everyone the opportunity to submit an event proposal for the programme, whether you are a university department, research institute, NGO, charity, company or an individual.

Work at the Festival

We offer a host of opportunities for paid and voluntary work during the Festival. Gain valuable experience of event management, science communication or working with children. See here for information about applying to work at the Festival

For the media

The Festival is also a rich source of information about new scientific research for journalists in the UK and worldwide. Members of the media can register for access to press papers by speakers at the Festival. We also provide a fully equipped press centre at the Festival venue, with press conferences, interview opportunities and networking events for the media.

Support the Festival

As a charity, the British Science Association looks to raise money for the Festival through various sources, including from companies, trusts and learned societies. The Festival offers unique opportunities for organisations to gain high profile recognition and support the work of the British Science Association.
