Mathematical Science Section

The Section's main business is to put forward proposals covering the whole mathematical sciences area, including statistics and mathematical computer science, for the Festival. The Section also decides on appropriate people to approach for the annual position of President.
The Section meets twice a year,
once in the early autumn and once in the spring. Proposals are sought from the mathematical sciences community and the Section refines these and oversees the application process. Some members of the Section attend the Festival to help with events, and in particular with the Reception which traditionally follows the lecture by the President of the Section. The Section is also responsible for allocating the budget to cover costs and to solicit sponsorship for events where organizers do not do this themselves.
