Case Study, Meteor Strike Challenge

"Last year we ran a pilot project called the Meteor Strike Challenge with Construction Skills and Setpoint Norfolk. A group of students were tasked with designing a structure to withstand the effects of a meteor strike which would cause flooding, earthquakes and gale force winds. They had some initial time to carry out on-line research to help them come up with a design. Then we provided vouchers to purchase materials so that they could build their design. Civil engineering ambassadors were on hand to advise. At the end of the day we standard tested their designs to find the best one".
