Fitting energy-saving light bulbs at home can reduce CO2 emissions

Prime Minister Tony Blair pledged to turn down his thermostat, world record holder Colin Jackson took the train and Sir David Attenborough unplugged his mobile charger.

What did you do to help reduce your carbon dioxide emissions during National Science Week?

Climate change is already happening and we must take action to reduce our energy usage if we are to prevent catastrophe.

Even the smallest of actions can make a difference. Not leaving your TV on standby and walking to school instead of getting a lift could help save thousands of tonnes of carbon dioxide if everyone did the same. And this helps reduce the amount of ‘greenhouse gases’, which contribute towards climate change.

For National Science Week 2006 we asked you to "Click for the Climate" and pledge to change one little aspect of your behaviour to help save the environment!

View the list of pledges here

In all we received over 25,000 pledges from around 7,000 people saving 1845 tonnes of carbon dioxide (that's equivalent of 1230 hot air balloons worth!) over 10 days!
