Each year, the British Science Association is behind a number of projects with a large impact on the media. These include National Science & Engineering Week in March and the British Science Festival in September.

National Science & Engineering Week features widely in the media, particularly in regional and local press, but also on programmes such as the Today Programme and BBC Breakfast. Many media outlets use the week as a hook for science-related articles and features, for example on careers in science.

The British Science Festival generates hundreds of national stories each year. In 2010 there were almost 200 stories relating to the Festival in national newspapers alone. To facilitate journalists at the Festival, the British Science Association operates a fully-equipped Press Centre.
