In November 2003 the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland Branch was formed and officially launched by Dame Julia Higgins, then President of the British Science Association. Supported by a diverse, dynamic and enthusiastic team we aim to provide a broad programme of science based activities throughout the year. Typical events include "Stargazing" at Soutra Isle, "Beer Bugs and Brewing" (including tasting!) at Riccarton, GATTACA - film and discussion, "Celebrating Scottish Photographic Development" at the Camera Obscura in Edinburgh, a visit to the Falkirk Wheel, and "The Food On Our Table" fun day in Livingston. Please see the British Science Association What's On list for our forthcoming events or contact our Branch directly. As well as organising our own events, we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with other organisations in our area.
Sept 2011: The Edinburgh and South East Scotland Branch are currently recruiting new volunteers. A background in science is by no means essential and oportunities exist in a wide range of areas. If you would like to find out more, please contact Helen Richens, Regional Officer, Scotland.
